Splitsy Privacy Policy
Last updated: 25 October 2026
This policy explains what information Splitsy, an expense-splitting app developed by Arun Prakash, collects, how it is used, and the choices you have.
Information we collect
- Account information: when you sign in with Google, we receive your email address and the name on your Google account. You choose the display name and a unique username shown to other users. We never see your Google password.
- UPI ID (optional): if you add one to your profile, so that group members can pay you through their UPI apps. Payments happen entirely in those apps; Splitsy never processes payments, and never sees your bank details or UPI PIN.
- Content you create: groups (name, description, currency), group memberships, expenses (description, amount, date, who paid, how it was split), and settlements between members.
Splitsy does not collect your location, contacts, photos, device identifiers, or payment card details, and does not use analytics or advertising SDKs.
How we use your information
- To create and secure your account and sign you in.
- To show your groups, expenses, and balances to you and to the other members of the groups you belong to.
- To let other users find you by username or name when adding you to a group.
We do not sell your information or use it for advertising.
Who can see your information
- Other Splitsy users: members of a group can see your display name, username, email, UPI ID (if you added one), and the expenses and settlements in that group. Signed-in users can search by username or name to add you to a group; search results show only your display name and username, never your email.
- Service provider: data is stored and processed by Supabase, which provides our database and authentication. Supabase processes data only on our behalf.
- Legal requirements: we may disclose information if required by law.
Security
All data is transmitted over encrypted (HTTPS) connections. Access to group data is restricted to members of that group.
Data retention and deletion
We keep your information for as long as your account exists. You can delete your account at any time from Profile → Delete account in the app. Deleting your account removes your login, name, username, email, and group memberships. Expenses and settlements you shared with others remain in their groups, labelled "Deleted user", so their balances stay correct. See how to delete your account for details.
Children
Splitsy is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect information from them.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time. Changes will be posted on this page with a new "Last updated" date.
